Terms and Conditions
Last updated: 23 April 2026
These Terms and Conditions set out the basis on which Past2Perfect provides photo restoration services. By contacting Past2Perfect, submitting an image, or commissioning work, you agree to these Terms.
1. Introduction
Past2Perfect (“we”, “us”, “our”) provides manual, hand-crafted photo restoration services from the United Kingdom to clients worldwide. These Terms govern your use of our website and services.
By submitting a photograph or requesting a quotation, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms.
2. Nature of the service
Past2Perfect specialises in manual, non-automated restoration. All work is carried out individually and relies on professional judgement, interpretation, and the condition of the original image.
Restoration outcomes vary depending on: 1) the quality and resolution of the original photograph; 2) the extent of damage, fading, or missing detail; 3) the limitations of the source material. No restoration can perfectly recreate lost detail, and results cannot be guaranteed.
3. Submitting photographs
By submitting an image, you confirm that:
- You own the image or have the legal right to use and submit it.
- The image does not infringe the rights of any third party.
- You accept responsibility for the content of the image.
- You understand that the condition of the original may limit the final result.
You agree not to submit unlawful, offensive, or harmful content.
4. Assessment and quotations
All work begins with an assessment of the image. Any quotation provided reflects the expected level of work required.
A quote becomes binding only when:
- it is confirmed in writing by both parties, and
- payment terms set out below have been accepted.
Quotes are valid for 14 days unless otherwise stated.
5. Payment
No work begins until the quote has been approved and the required payment has been received.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing:
- For restoration work under £150, full payment is required before work begins.
- For restoration work at £150 and above, a 50% deposit is required before work begins.
- For work paid by deposit, the remaining balance must be paid before the final restored file is delivered.
Payment can be made by UK bank transfer, PayPal, or secure invoice link, using the payment details provided when the quote is approved.
If final balance payment is not received, Past2Perfect may withhold delivery of the final high-resolution restored file until payment has cleared.
International clients are responsible for any bank charges, transfer fees, or currency conversion costs.
6. Revisions and Additional Work
Unless otherwise agreed:
- One round of minor adjustments may be included.
- Requests that significantly alter the scope of work (for example, adding people, reconstructing large missing areas, colourisation, or stylistic changes) may require a new quote.
Revisions requested more than 14 days after delivery may be treated as new work.
7. Turnaround Times
Estimated turnaround times will be provided during assessment. These are estimates only.
Delays may occur due to:
- image complexity
- communication delays
- workload
- technical issues
Delays do not constitute grounds for cancellation or refund unless explicitly agreed in writing.
8. Cancellations and Refunds
Because restoration work is bespoke and begins once paid work is scheduled or started:
- Cancellations may not be possible after work has commenced.
- Deposits and payments made for work already started are generally non-refundable.
- Refunds, whether full or partial, are considered on a case-by-case basis.
If you cancel before work begins, any payment received may be refunded at our discretion, less any non-recoverable transaction fees where applicable.
9. Intellectual Property
9.1 Ownership
- You retain ownership of your original image.
- Past2Perfect retains copyright over the restoration work (the edits and digital reconstruction), unless otherwise agreed in writing.
9.2 Licence
Upon full payment, you receive a non-exclusive licence to use the restored image for personal use. Commercial use must be discussed and agreed separately.
9.3 Portfolio Use
Because many images contain identifiable individuals, Past2Perfect will only use restored images in portfolios, demonstrations, or marketing with your explicit written permission.
10. File Handling and Storage
- Submitted images and restored files may be stored securely for up to 12 months unless otherwise agreed.
- Files may be deleted earlier at your request.
- We use reputable third-party cloud storage providers for secure file handling.
We cannot guarantee long-term archiving unless a separate storage service is agreed.
11. Limitation of liability
While every effort is made to produce high-quality results, Past2Perfect does not guarantee specific outcomes.
Past2Perfect shall not be liable for:
- loss of detail, authenticity, or perceived quality
- limitations caused by the condition or quality of the original image
- emotional or sentimental loss
- indirect, incidental, or consequential damages
- loss of profits or business
Our total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the service.
12. Website use
You agree to use this website lawfully and in a manner that does not infringe the rights of others or restrict their use of the site.
13. External links
This website may contain links to third-party websites. Past2Perfect is not responsible for the content, accuracy, or policies of those websites.
14. Privacy and Data Protection (UK GDPR)

16. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the courts of England and Wales.
